My computer all of a sudden started giving me the following message:
"____ has caused an error in GDI32.DLL. ____ will now close."

I have tried starting up in safe mode, but it still won't let my computer start. I can't access explorer or the help center. The screen either remains blue if I try to start it normally or gray if I try to start it in safe mode.

Can anybody help?

Thanx!

You don't indicate your operating system, but if you have Win98, you might try restoring a prior registry. To do this with WinME you will need to use a startup disk.

Win98: press and hold the ctrl key starting up to access the startup menu. Choose either "command prompt" or "safe mode command prompt". At the c:\> prompt enter:

scanreg /restore

use the arrow keys to select a prior started registry.

Did you make any configuration changes or installs before this problem began? Had you run defrag by any chance?
