Gaming Laptop to Moniter

476 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  cwwozniak
I have a gaming laptop and I bought a gaming monitor but the laptop uses integrated graphics also. The monitor only supports Nvidia graphics so gaming in full screen is fine, but google, discord, you tube, and everything else lags like crazy ONLY when my laptop is closed. When its open it runs fine but my frame rate drops a lot in game. I want to keep it closed as swell because I have a shelf for my laptop. I don't think this is a fixable problem, but just checking to make sure there is nothing I may have done wrong.

Do you have Nvidia graphics ?

If you do, then go to Device Manager, display adapter driver, right click choose Update.

I checked and both my Intel graphics and Nvidia graphics had the latest version installed.
Must be something hardware based in the laptop. Don't think there's much you can do.
Never heard of a monitor only able to display one brand of graphics, I believe whoever told you that was wrong. What is model of the monitor and laptop?
Please provide as much detail about your computer as possible.
Need to know the, Operating system, motherboard , is it a manufactured computer (like dell) or custom build ; ie exact MB, exact CPU, exact GPU, Monitor cable, exact ram, exact pw supply, etc. Do not post 16gig of ram; post the exact brand and mode/part# do that for ALL of your parts It is recommended that you download and run the http://static.techguy.org/download/SysInfo.exe and include the log produced in your post.
Check your Windows power options settings. See if there is anything related to power saving or reducing CPU speed with the lid closed. Also, try making sure that only the external display is selected as being active prior to closing the lid.
