Does it show as charging when connected
sometimes the phone does not automatically switch to mtp
media transfer protocol
  • Slide down your notification bar while your Galaxy S9 is connected via USB to your computer
  • Tap on the Android System notification for USB option
  • Make sure File Transfer is the option selected for your USB mode
if that does not work
what usb port on the computer are you using - try another port

It does charge, and tried another port, shows same thing "The USB Device Not Recognized"
So have you tried settings and mtp on phone
So have you tried settings and mtp on phone
Yes and my phone doesnt find any mtp or anything like that
So what is listed under usb options please - on the phone

If file transfer is not listed
  • Go to Settings > About Phone
  • Tap on Build number at least seven times repeatedly
  • You will eventually see a popup saying "Developer mode Activated"
  • Now that Developer mode has been activated on your Samsung Galaxy S9, here is how to enable USB debugging:
  • Go to Settings > Developer options
  • Tap on USB debugging to turn it on
  • If you wish to transfer files, then make sure the USB configuration is set to MTP
You should not need a driver for the Windows to recognise the phone as a device rather than simply as a device to be charged
However if you wish to try it see here
https://developer.samsung.com/galaxy/others/android-usb-driver-for-windows

Other than that it could be a windows issue what is the computer system
Post a paste of the information from out system info utility

Using Samsung SideSync is much faster and no cable needed.
My colleagues suggestions seems to be the best
I did not know of that capability, I have always used usb connection or Bluetooth
Just did one today for someone
Pics from old phone to PC using usb and then to new phone
Contacts from old phone to new phone on Bluetooth - phone to phone.

Deke40 = cheers not seen that one before.
Well... try installing the drivers for your phone from the official Samsung website in your Windows system.
This is the link for downloading.
Install it by following these steps:
1. Open the program and click next
Rectangle Font Screenshot Parallel Technology

2. Choose your language and country. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THAT IT IS THE COUNTRY WHERE YOU BROUGHT YOUR GALAXY AT.

3. Ignore this and click install. Change it only if you want to do so (ex: no space on the drive etc)

4. Wait and let it install. Afterwards, hit finish and you are done! Check if it works now.
