OK, here's the deal

I've been dying to get an FTP server up and running - but I don't have a clue how to do it.

I know I don't have a static Ip address, and therefore, I have to use Dynamic DNS.

Right?

I set up a xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.dyndns.org and downloaded serv-u.

Right thing to do?

I have a belkin F5D8230-4 router

What do i do??

how do i set it up?????

I don't use Serv-U, but that setup should be pretty easy. The missing piece is a port forward of port 21 through the router to the machine on your local network that's running the FTP server.

Turn off remote administration in your router, since you sure don't want that running anyway, that's a huge security hole! BTW, you're obviously using IE to do this, and so it's defaulting to port 80. Try using a real FTP client.

Remote Administration is turned off, but I think It's cos I tried accessing my PC from the same computer?

I haven't changed anything In Serv-U Cos I don;t know what to do!

Well, to test remote FTP, you have to connect from the other side of your router, in other words, someplace else. :D

I keep a dial-up account for those cases, just to have a means to test remote server applications.
