lost data at some point. Tried to reinstall windows ME with win 98 startup disk and Me disk. Contains aftermarket 10g hdd. which was working previously. It wouldn't allow Fdisk ( said no fixed disk found) wouldn't allow a format(said format for C: not supported). I believe my buddy entered the bios and changed the boot order. Now it freezes on load up when it says entering setup. Is there a way to bypass this and possibly load up thru DOS? or is there some other way to get into bios or setup? It is not responding to f5 f8 or f10. I do not believe this is the result of a virus. And the hard drive has maybe 20 hours of use.

A buddy thought the machine had the wrong boot sequence and i believe he changed he order. Previously to that the two problems during boot were 1. Operating system not present. 2. Format of C not supported. I was unable to boot to windows but i was able to access BIOS thru F10. I tried a win95 and win98 startup disk as well as an OEM winME cd. In trying to use FDISK the response was NO FIXED DISK PRESENT. In the D: drive setup failed to run stating could not read D:
E: was listed as an invalid file. In the mean time I will try disconnecting the HD and getting to BIOS thru regular method. Thanx
