I get this message whenever I try to read a floppy disk. "The floppy disk controller reported an error that is not recognized by the floppy disk driver." What is this?

Its saying the floppy drive has reported an error but the error is unrecognised by the system.

Causes:

Corrupt HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) within Windows software
Damaged motherboard hardware
Faulty disk drive (probably the most likely)
Corrupt BIOS
