Howdy, recently my system started doing something strange.
When I place a disc in my dvd drive and right click to explore: all of the icons on my desktop and those in the (F) drive directory start to blink/flash, this is causing difficulty in opening the files on the disc as they are not stationary for long enuf to register the click.
My system has been scanned using Ad-Aware SE personnel, Spybot and Active Virus Shield all with current definitions.
Has anyone heard of this b4 and is there a fix

Cheers

Does it occur with any CD?

Try to Disable CD autoplay:

Windows XP - Solution 1

* Right-click on the drive icon for your CD drive, CD recorder, or DVD drive, and select Properties.
* Choose the AutoPlay tab, and choose the desired action for each type of CD. For example, choose Music CD, then click Select an action to perform, then select Take no action.

Windows XP - Solution 2

* Obtain and install TweakUI (part of the PowerToys for Windows XP package), and then start TweakUI.
* Expand the My Computer branch, then the AutoPlay branch, and then select Drives.
* Turn off the checkbox next to each drive letter for which you want AutoPlay disabled.

Hi Dan O, I have installed Tweak XP Pro and I am still having the same problem.
eg. I pace a dvd in my drive right click to explore I now have 2 folders 1xaudio 1xvideo at this stage every icon on my comp flashes. They all cycle between whatever icon pic I have and the standard yellow folder, this happens repeatedly until I shut down the drive.

Very frustrating indeed.
