Flash Drive incompatible.

My main computer is a Dell laptop with XP. My old Computer is Windows 98 (not SE) which I use occasionally. The two are networked for access to files, which works, most of the time. I also use an old very small capacity flash drive for transferring files, but it is too small for most audio files. I have just bought a new 2GB PNY Attache flash drive, but having opened and tried using the 98SE driver download, it does not work. It is my own stupidity, assuming that if it was compatible with Windows 98SE, it would be compatible with Windows 98, but not so. The retailer cannot take the PNY back because I have opened the sealed pack, and it did say windows 98ME, XP on the outside, so I am stuck with it. Before I discard it, I want to be sure there is no way round this incompatibility.
Allan.

Thanks. It all seems very complex. Also the references are to Win 98SE, not to Win 98. I have looked at the links, and I am wary of any risk to my computer from these downloads, also my French, Spanish, etc is not very good! I do realise I lack basic knowledge of many of the terms used. Allan.
