This old duffer is using Windows ME:( and a new Sandisk Cruzer Micro flash drive. The Pc recognizes the drive as "Removable Disc E" and works okay but there is no icon in the system tray to indicate that the drive has been installed or to provide a "safely remove"option. I have looked everywhere on my PC and can't find it. Any help would be appreciated.

As long as the Sandisk Cruzer Micro USB flash drive light isn't flashing and files aren't in the process of being copied or transferred when you remove it from its port, you should be fine.

Windows 98SE needs the Sandisk driver for this flash drive to operate correctly. Windows ME and Windows XP do not.

Thanks for the input. Shall rest easy now knowing that someone cares enough to reply. I'm old enough to remember Sputnik and Roy Rogers so computers can be intimidating. I still have a box of tools called "pencils".
