I have a SiS730S chipset vga(128-bit 3d agp accelerator). I just bought a 21inch monitor with a 128-bit fixed frequency graphics card.
I plugged in the monitor to the cpu and it did not work...Does this chipset support fixed frequency? Or must I use the card? I cannot find anything in the documentation about fixed frequency. I'm afraid that if I use the old graphics card, it will not be able to support my dvd.

Hi,

Chipset or MB shouldn't be a problem as long as your card fits into AGP or PCI slot.
What's your monitor? Is it fixed frequency hi-res monitor? Of course, you bought a video card for it. So, there shouldn't be any problem, unless your new video card doesn't support specification of your monitor.
Check this this and find out if your monitor is it.
