When I try to open firefox, the browser window will not open. But when I try to uninstall or reinstall firefox, it says that firefox is open and must close before continuing. Also, when I check the processes my computer is running, firefox.exe is listed but still not window will pop up. I've tried to reboot, log off, etc several times already as well as force closing firefox.exe off the processes menu but to no avail.

Help!

So when you try to use your Task Manager to 'End Process' on Firefox, it will not close? If that is the case, I'll suggest a few things although frankly I don't know what will work.

First, maybe a system restore to a point before the problem occurred.

Second, I'd try to uninstall Firefox in the Safe Mode then install a fresh browser.

Third, it could be an extension causing the problem so I'd try to open Firefox in it's Safe Mode found in your All Programs menu and see if you can. If you can, then remove the extensions and replace them one by one.

Fourth, I'd check with the knowledgeable guys over on the Firefox forum.

You might try and create a new profile and see if Firefox opens.

use hijack this to erase any impression of firefox. delete all files related to firefox. then try to install fresh one.
