Firefox speed

Hi

I am using Vivaldi as my default browser and while I do like it, it occasionally crashes and locks up my Windows 7 64 bit PC. Therefore, I thought I'd have a look at the latest version of Firefox, which I've heard good things about.

I decided I would set it up exactly how I wanted it, even if that takes a few weeks, but whenever I open Firefox, it takes so long for pages to load I'm already thinking of uninstalling it! Am I doing something wrong? Is there something I need to close down or stop using? It sometimes crashes within seconds of opening it - surely this can't be the celebrated Firefox browser?! I don't understand what the problem is. Should I uninstall it and carry on using Vivaldi or is there anything I can do to get Firefox working properly?

While I'm getting how I want it I sometimes have both Vivaldi & Firefox open at the same time - could having 2 browsers open at once have anything to do with it?

Thanks for your help,

Ian.

I use Mozilla Firefox Quantum 67.0.4(most current version) in Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 10 64-bit, and it works fine.
Internet Explorer 11.0.130(most current version) is my primary browser, but I like to use MFQ from time to time.
I also have no problem with IE and MFQ browser windows being open at the same time.

We don't know what hardware you have in your computer, nor what apps are installed in it, nor how well it's maintained, so there could be several reasons for your browser issues.

Firefox loads slow for me. (Four Windows 7 computers). I use ESR (extended support release) which is currently at v 60.7.2 It only gets security updates and a new version comes once a year rather than every 6 weeks.

I switched to Palemoon about 5 years ago and found it to load so much faster than FF that I use it as my default and have FF ESR and Vivaldi as backup browsers.

You can have several browsers open at once - no problem with that.

Palemoon is based on an old version of FF.

Thank you. I've tried ESR but it crashed a few times and I couldn't get flash to work properly with it so I'll try Waterfox next! Thanks again.
I use FF 67.0.4
But it's installed on a Linux platform.
Loads pages quickly for me.
I use FF 67.0.4 as well with no problems and I sometimes have IE open at the same time. Two browsers open at the same time shouldn't cause issues.

However, since you seem to have trouble with multiple browsers it leads me to suspect there is a problem with your PC which could be hardware or even malware related.

Give Palemoon a try a Liz recommended.
Flash for FF is a different plugin than flash for Vivaldi or IE.
You might not have it installed.

This is the flash plugin for FF
NPAPI
Code:

Vivaldi uses PPAPI and IE uses activeX.

These are the plugins I have in FF ESR

and I have them set to Always Activate.

I use the latest version of FF.Pages load super fast for me also.I sometimes have FF and Chrome open at the same time with no issues.Using Windows 7 Home premium x64.
I don't know why but the thread starter has marked this as solved. o_O
