Is anyone here having trouble making Firefox the default browser on Vista 32bit?

I have changed it under Administrator and it does keep saying it is, but clicked links and HTM/HTML files and FTP all go back to IE7.
The option to change the defaults for these protocols only shows IE

I am working on a registry hack to fix it - and are 90% there.

I installed FF on the RTM version and had no problem making it default browser however FF just would not display well. I think it is the beta ATI drivers since they are problematic at best. IE7 displays fine.

No need for a registry hack Dave. For some reason (Maybe MS preserving their own software) it can be difficult to get Firefox back to the default. However, MS have provided a way. You have to do it through the "default programs" at the top of the start menu. I had the same problem after messing around with Opera and then wanting Firefox back.

Been there tried that.

I've managed to hack it. I wonder if it is because I used and older version first as well as Protable Firefox from a USB stick?

I had problems using Slimbrowser with Vista. It would do everything but let me edit email in HTML view of OWA. I'd get the red "x" in the corner of my email body...go figure.
