Hello there,

Our company runs a small network, we have an NT 4 server, occasionally we have to use the server if we are really busy. However for about 4/5 times each day for about 20mins the servers hard drive goes into meltdown ie it rattles away to itself, when this happens noone can use it as its too slow.

Im pretty sure that it is running a program called Findfast.exe during these times (cos i checked in the task manager section)
Basically i was wondering if it is safe to deactivate this, and was wondering if anyone knew what is actually does?

Cheers

Very safe....it is just some indexing thing for Microsoft products and is a real resource hog. Just take it out of each users startup folder.....easy!!
