We had saved something on a disk for school under Microsoft Powerpoint. Now, we can't access it because we get an error message "file not formatted or has been formatted for mac". When I try to open it under My Computer to see what 's on the disk it won't open it. It says "disk not formatted". I KNOW the project was on the disk, but now it's like it's gone. Have we lost everything on the disk or is there a way we can get it back? Thanks.

Assume the "disk" is a floppy disk?

The error indicates that the data (probably the file structure) has been damaged, this is not unusual these days as the floppy disk is now the most unreliable storage methos out there.

As so few are now used, the quality manufacturers have left the market.

Sad to say that the data may have been lost, but surely it will exist on the PC on which it was created?

It is "unusual" to create a document from scratch onto a disk, usually it is created on the hard drive then copied to a disk only when when finished?
