file access denied?

Hi,
In windows xp, i want to go in to change the name of the messenger in the programs in the c directory. I just read in a computer magazine this month that if you alter the name of the "messenger" file, msn messenger wont start up every darn time! Also, it's still there for you to use WHEN you want it. Anyway, I went it and couldn't access the file to adjust the name even though i went in on my administrator account. Any advice?

Hi Joe. Windows won't let your change amd or delete any file in use. To keep MSN Messenger from starting up when Windows starts, OPEN MSN Messenger and under the MENUS at the top look for Options or Preferences. Look carefully in those for a box that says;"Start when Windows Starts" to that effect and UNCHECK the box. Hit OK and close MSN. Then RIGHT click the icon down by the clock and choose EXIT or CLOSE. It's gone till you need it!
