I am currently helping some friends on mine with their computer. Their download times are really slow. I believe that they have a 56k modem. I thought about suggesting they upgrade to like a 112. But I don't want to make this suggestion if it won't help. The real issue is, they live way out in the country. And they are using dial-up. I've cleaned up a lot of their files and fixed errors and removed adware and viruses and worms. There are a lot of programs available for dl. But will these really affect their dl times, especially p2p dls with a dial-up connection in BFE?

if they wanted to spend money, they could invest in sattellite internet, thats really fast, or for downloading they could use go!zilla its worked wonders for me.
