Fan control

386 Views 8 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  crjdriver
Hello - I'm still quite a newbie to controlling my fans and stuff related to it. I accidentally changed something to do with my fans in the BIOS settings upon startup and one of my fans is running quite fast whilst my PC isn't running anything. I've tried a lot of programs to fix this and I've tried the different settings within the BIOS settings but nothing seems to be working.

I'm not sure what to attach to help with the problem but if you guys could let me know, I'll happily update this post ASAP.

Thank you :giggle:.

Since this is a bios ie motherboard/hardware issue, I am moving this to the hardware forum.
The bios is the best way [IMO] to control fans. Post the exact motherboard you are running ie asus xxx123 or whatever.

Thank you for moving this to the correct forum. I have a Asus PRIME Z370-P II (Version Rev X.0x).
First find out which fan is running fast or making noise. You can use monitoring software OR simply enter the bios and see what each fan is showing for RPM. Next page 3-7 of your online manual shows how to config the fans;

According to my HWMonitor it's the CPU fan running around 3k RPM.
Then you check the setting in the bios. OR you can run qfan in the bios and it will set speeds for all of your fans.
What is the current setting for the cpu fan ie performance, silent, auto, what?

All of my fans are set to standard in those settings but as stated in the first post by me, changing the setting for the fans doesn't seem to work and I can't manually change it very much.
It is pretty difficult [if not impossible] to give you exact instructions without having the system in front of me.

Why not simply clear cmos or as asus calls it RTC? This puts the bios back to defaults. Another option is to load defaults in the bios.
