Failed - Cannot download Skype for Windows

2484 Views 7 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Drabdr
Hi, I am unsure if this is window 7 problem or not, but I have windows 7, so why not.

Now my issue is that I can't download files...I tried google images--they work, but I can't download skype nor when I went to Skype help, could I actually download their help...

I have tried all 3 browsers I previously had downloaded: Chrome 48(my main one), Firefox 44 and if emergency, I have Internet explorer--i am not sure on the version though.

So going back to main point, I have been looking countless hours, trying to not have the anti-virus/firewall/microsoft essential on, to see if it was blocked, but didn't seem like it. I have also previously, before those--done a clean boot and that did nothing as well.

I feel like this issue occured after the upgrades, but I can't confirm and everything I keep seeing, just doesn't seem right or the solution didn't seem helpful, for my case.

I guess maybe additional info required to know, would be I have a Dell laptop...its a little smaller then most i've seen. Looking on Systems, I see its specifically a Window 7 Ultimate...so I am not sure if any of that will help, but hopefully it does.

Welcome to the forum!

To clarify a few things, when you state I can't download files, does that mean a file you are trying to retrieve from a website? Is there a prompt/ screen message that appears when you have this problem?

Second, you mention
I feel like this issue occured after the upgrades,
Which upgrade are you referring to?
Yes...well i'm not sure, but I can explain and hopefully that'll clear it up more.
So, after un-installing Skype, I went to their main page and then clicked downloads, to be here--> http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-windows/ I then downloaded skype for windows and once it got to the end of the download, it said this--> http://prntscr.com/9wefss and the one odd download that worked, was saving a picture from google images. Hopefully that helps to clarify the first question.

Regarding the second, I tried playing games on flyordie.com and they had issues starting up, where I had to install a missing plug-in called..well here's a screenshot--> http://prntscr.com/9wehkd and well different games work for different browsers--for me, so that's what i mean by upgrade...but I also think mozilla and chrome both upgraded to newer versions and I haven't really downloaded much recently. Hopefully this was clarified as well.

Btw, thank you for moving it because I was trying to figure out how to start one, but just didn't get how it was suppose to start, so thank you very much for doing that. =)

You are certainly welcome. :) We are here to help. Anytime you need assistance, feel free to ask a moderator/admin.

Basically when you are in the forum you wish to post (which in your case was Windows 7), you will see a red box in the upper right corner labeled Post New Thread. An empty post will pop up, and you can type your issue in it (like you did for this one). You'll just need to put a title in it. Hope that helps.

Oh that is, thank you! :O I feel dumb now, not posting that before, but happy I get how to add new threads now. =)

Regarding the 2 questions you asked for clarification..did I give enough, to answer/clarify them?
I was having troubles with Skype lately, so I decided to uninstall it and re-install right after, to see if that would help me out. Well the problem, is that whenever I do, this is what I get--> http://prntscr.com/9wefss

I have tried on all 3 browsers I got and Google Chrome-48, Mozilla Firefox-44 & Internet Explorer-I think 7.5, have given me the same result. I also have a Dell laptop and Window 7 Ultimate, if this info is needed.

I contacted Skype earlier this morning, to see if it was from maybe them...but I tried to download some assistance from Secure-logmein-enterprise.com and it gave the same message--> http://prntscr.com/9wbmpd

So idk why this is happening, but I can still download pics from Google images...I can't seem to get anything else though...

Can someone please help me out because I honestly am so lost and need Skype back, as soon as possible.
You've marked your thread as Solved, did you get this resolved?

flamingjojo, I went ahead and combined the two threads you had open on this, as you had replied with some information in the other thread.

As Triple6 asks, you have marked both threads solved. Did you get this corrected?
