Usually I leave my computer on 24/7, but I turned it off the other day. When I rebooted, it would not show my task bar or desktop. I hit ctrl+alt+delete and told it to run "explorer.exe." It flashed the taskbar and ended. I ran the "scf /scannow" and it told me to insert my disk, but I've had this computer for several years and do not know where the disk is. I've run "regedit.exe" and when I looked through the files, I couldn't find "explorer.exe" I've run Spybot S&D, Norton Anti-Virus, and System Restore (which was unable to do anything).

Any suggestions?

I am running Windows XP.

I'm having the exact same problem, only I'm running windows 2k pro... Any help on this matter would surely make me grateful.
