Please help me. I have been having alot of problems lately. I noticed that my explorer.exe is using 30,000 K of memory. And, whenever I take a cd out of my cd rom, it is burning hot. What is going on with my pc? I'm running Windows XP with Service Pack 1. 512 mb ram, and an amd 2600+ processor. By the way I just reformatted. Now, I noticed ccpxysvc.exe running at 90,000K.

ccpxysvc.exe is part of Norton Firewall and the Norton Internet Security Suite.

You may well have too many programs running in the background

First of all download the following programmes: Spybot & Adaware

Update both of them first, then run both programmes and have them fix anything they find.

When you have run and fixed everything with Spybot Search and Destroy and AdAware, please reboot before scanning, as not everything can be removed when Windows is running

Go to this page, and download 'Hijack This!'.

Unzip it, launch Hijack This, then press Scan, and press Save Log

This will generate a text file that will list all running processes, all applications that are loaded automatically when you start Windows, and more.

open that file
Go to Edit | Select all
Now click Edit | copy to copy it

Do not change anything just yet
Come back to the forum, Right Click and paste its contents here

Someone will come along and have a look at it, and advise you what still needs to be removed.

What are the specific problems you have been having.

The Explorer on my computer also using about 35,000 k of memory so that's not unusual at all.

ccpxysvc is related to Norton Personal Firewall so that's probably ok as well.

You can always run a spyware scan but it doesn't appear that from just these two issues there is a problem.

I'm not sure why the CD ROM would be getting hot. You might try double checking that all the internal fans are working properly. If you have any utilities, you might also check the CPU temperature as well.
