Experiment with Windows 10

Hi

First time user here so please be patient with me lol. I have an old Dell Latitude D630. It came originally with Windows Vista Ultimate. For an experiment I removed Vista and installed Windows 10 Pro 21H1 Build 19043.1055. Most features seem to be working fine but what i would like is any advice on how to make a 2006 Dell Latitude compatible with the newest version of Windows 10 using only what I have pre installed on the system or can download from the internet, Help W/Device Manager. How do i figure out which ones of the countless drivers device manager has that my system wont crash right away after installing.

Thank you for reading,
Any advice helps.

The latest supported operating system for your laptop is vista. What this means is there are no dell drivers on the support page ie no chipset, no sound, lan, etc, etc AND dell never tested your laptop with win10. You are in effect a beta tester; might work and it might not work.

Post a screenshot of device mgr.
The Dell Latitude D630 laptop was introduced in 2007.
Depending on its hardware and where it was purchased, most of them came with Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista Business 32-bit.

I purchased 2 of them in 2011 in refurbished condition, so I'm familiar with them.
I doubt that Windows 10 will run decently in it, and I doubt that Windows 10 will provide drivers for all of its primary devices.

Its running on Windows 10 Pro 21H1 v.10.0.19043 Build 19043 right now. Its actually running great. Theres the odd download it will not accept but other than that its fine. Im interested in advice on boosting RAM, things i can do to increase speed and space without having to spend any money. As said previously this is just a project. The dates on almost all of my drivers in device manager is 2006. That doesnt mean thats when the laptop came out. I just sorta guessed. I dont even remember where I got it lol. Hey any ideas how i can increase the space? its a 32bit with 74G. Thank you for your reply.

I am at a loss to understand how you are going to boost the amount of ram without spending any money. Ram chips cost money and that is the only way you are going to increase the amount of ram.
 thats what i was wondering. Ive heard a few different things in the past about RAM performance but at the time was in one ear out the other. Anyways all I can do is keep experimenting and hopefully find some stuff out. Ive been trying the different drivers in device manager to see what it will handle. Ive had a bit of luck but also tanked my computer about 5 times at least in the process lol.
Many years ago there were programs that claimed to "Boost" the amount of ram. They were complete garbage.
Looking at this link :- https://www.dell.com/community/Lapt...sible-upgrades-for-Latitude-D630/td-p/3408888
your D630 Ram may be upgraded, the recommendation is to run the Crucial scanner to see if it can go up to 4GB or 8GB of Ram :-

Another upgrade would be fitting an SSD.

Of course the above would cost money !
I had an old desktop Dell XPS 600 with Windows XP and the only OS which would install was W10 32 bits. It worked kind of well and then I started having problems with the HDD being scanned all the times when turned on so I installed W7 and that worked pretty well until my desktop just gave up on me.
