when i am trying to open previously saved excell file by double clicking the file does not open . excell is not able to detect it.i stare at a grey page. however i can browse and open this file .what is the problem

Open Excel and click TOOLS --> OPTIONS --> GENERAL and make sure to uncheck the box that says "Ignore Other Applications"

If that doesn't work, you can try to re-register Excel by clicking START --> RUN and then typing Excel.Exe /regserver and then click OK.

hi rollin
thanks for the quick attention.
the option "ignore other applications " was uncheked.
when i typed the abovesaid file and cliked ok it displayd "cannot find the fileor one of its components.make sure file/pathname is correct

i had not put the space .it worked and my problem is solved.thaks a lot.
incidently i am using microsoft office 2000premium and winows 98 second ed
