It appears an update was installed but I don't know how to uninstall.
A microsoft pdf printer is installed as part of the Office package.

make sure it is a current update and not your win 10 to 11 update
ok i followed the instructions for the windows 11 video... both options. neither will let me fully uninstall the windows 11 update which occurred 2 days ago... which is when the printer problems began. I am at my wit's end!

I know there have been weird issues during the whole PrintNightmare débâcle, with one of them being the inability to print unless one has Administrator privilege, so I thought this might be worth throwing in the pot.

I encountered a similar issue with one of our users and I ended up having to remove Office completely, reboot, and then reinstall to get it working again. I did use the MS Uninstall Tool, which you can download from this page, and that does a lot more than the simple uninstaller from Control Panel.

Also, for the sake of completeness and in order to understand better what we are dealing with here, please download and run the TSG System Information Utility on the affected PC, and then post the results back to this thread.

hm. says i don't have appropriate permissions to open the utility. However I have now used the MS Uninstall Tool and removed Office, rebooted, and reinstalled. Still no luck. Also, it appears I am allowed only a certain number of posts in a 24 hour period so if I disappear for a bit, that's why. :)

Okay, this is turning into a real head-scratcher. Just as a test: can you create another account on the laptop, log into it, and then just try printing anything from either Word or Excel?

Can you check for a restore point before the updates

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type control panel, and then choose it from the list of results
    • In the Control Panel search box, type recovery.
    • Select Recovery > Open System Restore.
    • In the Restore system files and setting box, select Next.
    • Select the restore point that you want to use in the list of results, and then select Scan for affected programs.
      Notes:
      • If you don't see the restore point that you want to use, select the Show more restore points check box to see more restore points.

Sorry I thought you had dropped this I did not receive emails
