CD Text is something that some, but not all players can use/show. It is used to display a couple of lines in the appropriate CD player, like Artist and Album, nothing else. If you are Exporing your disc you won't see any of this.

is there a downloadable program to do this ?

a program that will read CD-Text from a cd on my computer ?

i want to do a quick check of some cds that i burned with CD-Text using EAC,

What CD-Text are you talking about?

If you are talking about the artist's name, titles etc. from pressed CDs your ripping program has to communicate with one of the databases (a remote CDDB, freedb) that stores the info, if a match is found it enters the info in the format you have chosen so that the mp3 will be named and tagged with the info.

I find EAC to be an unnecessarily cumbersome program and prefer CDex.

But here's a guide. Note the filenaming set ups and the freedb set up.
