Ethernet Not Working

494 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  StevenB7
My Ethernet doesn’t work anymore. The lights on the back IO light up and the cable works fine. Whenever I open up network adapters on my pc it’s completely empty. I’ve tried everything to get those adapters back on my computer. I even did a full wipe and computer reset and I still don’t have them. I’m feeling really hopeless and am in need of some help. I have no more ideas on what to do.

Hello and welcome to TSG!!

We'll need a bit more to go on here. What make/model system are we talking about?

Perhaps you have disabled the network card accidentally in BIOS?
CPU: Ryzen 5600x
GPU: 1660 Super
RAM: 16gb 2400mhz
Motherboard: Asus Prime b450m
Windows 10
It’s a custom built pc.
What should I check for in the bios?
If you select Advanced Mode (on the bottom of the main screen, or press <F7>), then select the Advanced tab, you should see the screen below, select Onboard Devices Configuration (I'm guessing). You should be able to enable or disable (among other things) your network card.

Not having one to check, I can only speculate that here is where you'd find that option.

You should have a Realtek 8111H Gigabit LAN controller built into that m/b. In Device Manager, are there any unknown devices listed? You can try to download and install the drivers from Asus' web site and see if that helps.

This is what I see. Realtek LAN was enabled. I’ll check to see what drivers I can install.
