I have a Dell 2400. For some reason, possibly when I downloaded SP2 I lost the Ethernet Controller driver. However, i still have ethernet capability. I have downloaded and installed or at least tried to install the downloads from the Dell website under Ethernet Controllers. I cannot get it out of Other Devices with a Yellow "?". I think its messing up my other devices, such as print spooler (which wont work) and the RPC controller (which is missing).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

download the motherboard drivers for that machine. If you got to the dell website, you will find the mobo drivers; d/l and install them.

Would you mind pointing me in the right direction. I was on the dell site and couldn't find anything other than a software installation utility for the mobo. I tried to install it, but got several volume errors.

look on the back of your machine for a service tag (s/t) number. Post that, and that will tell us exactly what machine you have.

im getting an error, windows cant load an installer for hdc???

right click my computer > properties > hardware > device manager > expand 'network adapters' and tell me what you have in there.

Also note, underneath the network adapters is "other devices" and it has a the yellow exclamation point next to it. For some reason I don't have any other network adapters installed under Client, Protocol, etc... I did a fresh install a few days ago, so i don't quite understand why the issues now. I click add printers,and it tells me the spooler isn't running, i turn it on and it goes back to off. same with most of the management services.
