After I downloaded the USPS shipping assistant latest version I got an error message at startup which reads in the bar on the top of the gray box notifyalert.exp .NET Framework initialization error.

In the box itself it says - to run this program you must first install one of the following versions of the .NET Framework
V1.1.4322 or V1.0.3705
contact your application publisher for instructions that obtaining the appropriate version of the .NET Framework.

So, I called the tech support at USPS and he showed me how to run a repair on the .NET Framework. But I'm still getting the error message at startup every day.

This doesn't seem to affect the program at all because it works perfectly. But I'd sooner not be getting an error message every day.

Any ideas on how to get the right version and where to download it from? (Pardon the dangling participle) Do I need to uninstall the version that I've got first?
Thanks!

What version of the .NET Framework do you have installed?

I've been searching and I just noticed that there is a service pack for 2.0 which also supports 1.0 applications. Do you think that that will remove the error?

I would re-download the version 2.0 and the upgrade and then go thru add/remove programs and remove the .NET Framework and then reboot and re-install. with 2.0 you should not get the message since the newer versions always contain the earlier versions + the newer things.

OK - that didn't work. I had also attempted to download a tiny desktop app and I got the same message. So I uninstalled the 2.0 and the upgrade and installed the 1.1 since that was the download that the search brought me to when I searched for V1.1.4322.
And that worked!
I also downloaded the tiny desktop app and it worked perfectly.
I think that it was a weird glitch in the USPS shipping assistant that needed the 1.1 and not the 2.0.
The last version before this upgrade needed Acrobat in order to see the mailing label but only worked using an older version - not the latest so I think that this might be the same thing.
Thanks for the ideas, though!

I just wanted to add a correction.
I was wrong. The shipping assistant only worked after I downloaded 1.1 because it was running already. The next day when I turned on the computer there was an error message that I needed V2. something so I called USPS Tech Support for the 3rd time and they said that I did need V2.0 for the shipping assistant to run so I downloaded that version but I didn't uninstall 1.1 this time and after that everything seems to be working properly (even the app that needed 1.1).
