What OS were you running before Windows 8.1?

Somebody may be able to pinpoint that error, but I would just assume that it's a driver problem; and would install the latest drivers (beginning with the chipset) from the PC (0r motherboard) manufacturer's web site.
Well it was a bootlegged version of windows, i deleted it and used a windows 8.1 tool to boot it. I also got pass everything and downloaded windows 8.1 onto my computer and right when its about to go to the desktop my computer crashes and it gets the error code. Very frustrating.
Where would i download these? Would I have to be in safe mode?

Is the antecedent of both instances of "it" the "bootlegged version of windows"? If so, I don't understand the booting after deleting, but we don't help with pirated software anyhow.
I have a legit copy of Windows 8.1 now. I bought recently off of reddit recently....
A retail copy (the kind that Microsoft pulled off the market)? Not a OEM System Builder's (which is for new computers build for sale)?
Yes its a retail copy. I already used a media tool and then entered the windows 8.1 key into the box.
Super! :) Back to drivers ...

This is my preferred order for finding drivers:

1. PC manufacturer's web site,
2. Motherboard manufacturer's web site,
3. Device manufacturer's web site,
4. A "drivers" site, such as DriverGuide,
5. Anywhere you can find one that might work,
6. Let Device Manager try to find one.
7. Use Windows Update.

(4 through 7 are really tied, and with Windows 7--and maybe 8/8.1-- the Windows Update should be at least 4th. The main message is that the first three are almost always to be preferred.)
