Entry Point Not Found problem for ntdll.dll

4033 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  PC_Wiz
I'm trying to find out why a Windows 2000 machine has the error "The procedure entry point RtlUnhandledExceptionFilter could not be located in the dynamic link library ntdll.dll." As of now, I guess it is related to uxtheme.dll. According to what I have found, uxtheme.dll is for Windows XP and Windows 2003. Is that any application which will install uxtheme.dll onto a Windows 2000 machine?

1. Search for the file UXTheme.dll.
2. If found, rename to Uxtheme.old

There are many 3rd parties programs that install that file: ex: Trillian.
I found many instances where users installed Trillian or other applications that caused similar problems related to UXTheme.dll.

I dont have an exact answer at this moment , but mostlikely some other applications or patches installed the UXTheme.dll on the system.

The only way I could find out , is to setup a w2k box, search the system to make sure that the file is not present, then try to install Trillian and see if the UXTheme.dll shows up.
