Recently I've been receiving e-mail with the extension ".eml". I am not able to open these because I don't know what program to use. Can anyone help?
Thanks

Windows ought to know how to open these, and you should only have to doubleclick them to have em open with Outlook Express.

What version of Windows are you running, please?
About the EML format: The email format should be associated with Outlook Express. EML files are simply saved messages created in Outlook Express."

This is what the Microsoft Site suggests:

Symptoms
When you attempt to open an .eml attachment in Outlook Express, either the file may not open or you may receive an error message that states that there is no program associated with this file type.

Cause
This behavior can occur if an installed third-party e-mail program has an associated .eml file type.

Resolution
To resolve this behavior, either run the Msimn executable file with the /reg option to force Outlook Express to re-register its file types, or re-register the .eml file type in My Computer.

To run the Msimn executable file with the /reg option:
Quit Outlook Express.
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type msimn /reg, and then click OK.

To re-register the .eml file type in My Computer:
On the desktop, double-click My Computer.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
Click the File Types tab.
Under Registered file types, click EML Outlook Express Mail Message, and then click Advanced.
Click Open, and then click Edit.
Type the following single line in the Application used to perform action box:
"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\MSIMN.EXE" /eml:%1
Click OK, click OK again, and then click Close.

Thanks to each of you. I'm running win98 and have installed the latest MSN. As far as I know I am NOT running express. I have been having a lot of trouble getting my e-mail out of the "OUTBOX". MSN has been no help. I'm planning on dropping them as soon as the contract is out.
I'll try the routine through the "start" which you have suggested.
Thanks.
How do you mean "you're not running Express"?

What is your e-mail client?
I thought (maybe I shouldn't) I was using Outlook.
Well, I can't see that from here, I'm afraid.
Launch your e-mail client. What does it say?

Or go to Internet Explorer > Programs, and see what the default e-mail client is .

However, follow Deke's advice. It should set you straight.

If no joy, please repost, and I'll send you a regfile to import which will.
Change the .eml extension to .mht and IE should open them.
