EM Client issues

Hi

I've been using EM Client for a while but can't work out how to send emails from it!

If I create a new email and try to send it, it says 'There is no account set up. Please add an account first in order to send emails'.

The account details it set up automatically itself when I put in the ISP details so I don't know why it won't work. If I go into the 'Accounts' section in the 'Tools' menu, my accounts are there but there are no SMTP settings for any of them. Reading the EM Client help pages it appears there should be a tab for SMTP for each account, as there is for IMAP, but there isn't on mine! How do I add the SMTP details manually, please?

I can reply to other people's emails but it would appear that until this is sorted I can't send any! PLEASE help as I haven't a clue how to resolve it when there seems to be nowhere to put the SMTP details!

Thank you.

When setting up em Client..... you have to use a email address to do so or it won't work. So I don't know what you did when you first ran/open the software.

Next thing is; is the the free version or the paid version. There's no support for the free version. If you have the paid version.....their techs can walk you through your issue.

Replying to an email.....if your are actually replying to emails....your are in fact sending them. Unless they are just being stored in the saved folder. I have no clue.

What are ISP details? When setting this up all you need is a email address. That's all I had to do.

This sound like you manually setup the email account.....and this is where you're having issues.

If this is the free version.....I would uninstall em Client and reboot. Upon restart, would download a fresh copy of em Client and install software. This time let the software setup the email account for you. To do this is just input the email address you want to use.
Is there any setting to set a specific account as default? It sounds like there isn’t a default set.

I had em Client on my Windows 7 PC and didn't have any problems with it - when I installed it on my new Windows 10 PC I used the setup wizard to set up my email accounts by telling it my email address & password and it did the rest, so I assumed all was fine.

It's the paid for version so I'll contact them, thank you.

No, my replies are being sent so this a new thing and I don't know why it's happened!

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, there is an option to set an account as default but when I try I get a dialogue box containing the message: "Unable to set default account. The default account is desired to have both incoming (IMAP or POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) email services enabled."
IanRM2005.....you quoted me but didn't reply. Why?

My replies (My first one starting 'I had em Client on my Windows 7 PC') are underneath your quotes - I didn't know how else to reply to each of your points individually. I'm sorry if I've done it wrong, I don't use this site very often and don't know it very well.

LOL....no worries. I din't expand it. I see it now.
I just went to my em Client software and added my Gmail account using the automatic setup....worked find and it's IMAP. Mine is the free version so I can only have 2 email accounts.

I would uninstall the software and reinstall it and then add each email account using the automatic setup feature. It works just fine.
Thanks for all your help, after finally finding the correct SMPT server details on my ISP's website, I found that it didn't need to use SSL & that em Client was set to use it, so I changed that setting and it's now working! I hope that makes sense!
