Hi

I have never been into AOL but a customer for a variety of reasonably compelling reasons needs to move to a regular ISP service, but wants to collect his AOL e-mail. We are looking at revitalising his one way satellite broadband set up by dumping AOL which does not cooperate with the connection software

Is there any easy way to collect e-mail from an AOL account using another dial up?

Many thanks

Hi TimT

Outlook Express can be configured to collect mail from AOL using an Imap account.
How to configure an AOL e-mail account in Outlook Express

As long as the account is active and they have their username and password, messages can be polled into Outlook Express.

If your client wants to retain those messages they will need to move or copy the messages out of the Imap Inbox and into Outlook Express' main Inbox folder.
Once the AOL account is deleted the Imap folders will refresh (if online) and the messages will disappear, since the Imap folders only mirror what is on the server.
