I had a problem with my computer hanging at the Windows Logo when starting up.
By getting into the manual "Windows 98 Startup" menu and doing a Step-By-Step Confirmation I determined what was halting the normal loading of windows.

My Config.sys file has the following command:
DEVICE=C:\OPTi933\Cdsetup.sys /T:X

I have unchecked this and Windows runs fine.
But I figure that it meant something otherwise why would I have had it all these years.

I gather that this command is to setup my CD-Rom on my soundcard or something?? and, therefore, that may be the driver is corrupt? I have located another 'cdsetup.sys' file so I can install that if I do require it.

My questions are:
(a) Do I need to load this in my config file?
(b) What does it do?
(c) What does the switch T:X mean?

I doubt you need it - it looks like an old DOS driver to setup a CD on a soundcard. It should not be required for Windows but only for DOS for accessing the CD.
