Whenever I click on one of the drive icons on the desktop e.g. D (cd drive)drive, F (dvd drive) Drive, etc., the my computer box opens up and then I have to click on those drive icons again to open them up.

This is something new. Does anybody know why this happens? and if so, how can I straighten it out.

You might try deleting the desktop shortcuts and then making new ones by opening MyComputer, right click on the drives and select "Create Shortcut".

P.S. Can you right click on the desktop icons and select options from a menu?
