As you can see in the screenshot, my D drive acts as if it is a picture folder. Can you please tell me how I can revert the drive so it acts like a normal drive? (Data folder). I mean now it has picture tasks, etc on the left taskpane.

Do the foll:
1. Goto View Meu - choose Details or List ( as per your liking)
2. Goto View menu >> Explorer Bar>>Enable Folders

There on Xp you'll have ur folder view (with atree to navigate)

But there is still picture tasks and there is the fading picture icon in the background.

that is probably because you had some picture files in that folder which have been moved to some other folder...

Here's what u can do...browse to any other folder in your directory structure say..program files... there you should notice a normal view..

then go to >>Tools>>Folder Options>>View>>Apply To All Folders

Now All folders will show you the "normal" view that u seek
