Over the last couple of days I've noticed my CPU being higher than normal, My Computer will not load my folders and drives. After searching deeper with Process Explorer the culprit appears to be thumbnailcache.dll, looking at the threads for the process ole32.dll seems to be the problem.

I've run HJT, and 3 different virus scans, its all come up clean...No idea what could be causing the problem. How do I fix?

Could you also give me a list of all of your installed programs as there may be hidden malware. This kind of computer activity fits the Welchia worm or MSBLAST.D worm virus. This is a virus that infects the legitimate dllhost.exe file.

This can be fixed by doing the following:
1. Run Security Task Manager to check your dllhost.exe process
2. Run Registry Booster to fix dllhost.exe related errors
3. Run Spyware Doctor to remove persistent malware

Just thought that I'd add that most anti-virus' will not pick up this virus, but I know for a fact that the ZoneAlarm firewall will (and probably most others will too).

Yeah, I've heard of that particular virus. I've run scans with AVG, malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware, all have come up clean. Zonealarm i'm happy to give a try, just wondering if it works with windows 7? I do have the inbuilt firewall turned on. Just downloading the suggested programs now but here's the HJT log.

I couldn't run Spyware Doctor, won't work with windows 7 I get the compatability error and it won't start. Registry Booster, found 346 errors but only cleaned 15 (due to trial version) I use ccleaner regularly so not sure where the 346 errors are coming from. Most of them appear to be related to my external hardrive, which i'm contantly unplugging and plugging back in.

Attached a txt file of what was showing in security task manager.

Well I dont have the authority to correct your log, only a green shield or gold sheild member can. However I can advise on what programs to remove to speed your PC up a little. I will PM a GS member for you though.

Did what you told me to do in post 4. Can't run spyware doctor, won't work with windows 7. Registry booster requires me to buy the software to get rid of the other 331 errors it found, and I posted the results that security task manager found. I'll get commodo and try that. The problem only seems to be intermittent, has happened twice so far, rebooting has stopped the problem. The first time it happened I was rendering stuff in 3ds, the second time I'd plugged in my usb thumbdrive to transfer files. Come to think of it the first time it happened I had my thumbdrive plugged in as well. I've deleted everything off the thumbdrive and reformatted it.
Maybe its just windows 7?

Mmm not sure...the problem hasn't come back and I'm running Commodo now. I just seem to be having a lot of application crashes at the moment. I'm hoping its fixed!

Well, same problem yet again!!! I'm running the firewall, been regularly scanning with the regsitry cleaner. I'm totally stumped! I'm going to restart the computer and see if it goes away like it seems to do.
