Specs are listed in signature....Is the system getting bottlenecked because of only having 2gb of ram?

I have no clue why but its struggling to run some games with full detail on 1680 x 1050 (having some real fps issues with COD4.....sad)

and having some problems with system hog games at 1280 x 960. (22in widescreen)

It is doubtful that XP will use 2 GB's of RAM. You might try removing a stick and see if that speeds things up. How is your page file configured? How are drives and partitions set up? Are all drives using DMA?

Check to see what else is using resources on the machine. Do you have other programs running? Look at the CPU Time column to see exactly how much CPU each app uses over time and not just when you hasppen to be looking.

Look at your system makeup. PCWizard has some benchmarking tools to compare your RAM and other features to other machines.
