I just got an asus x501a and was playing an emulator and then a code popped up saying something about the cpu not being able handle the emulation and I couldn’t click out of the box so I reset the computer which sent me to a screen that said disk read error telling me to press ctrl+alt+delete when I get to the in assuming bios screen I don’t know what to put the settings on to fix anything

Power off the computer. Wait a few minutes, then power back on and tell us what you are seeing. If you are unsure, please attach a picture.

I've waited a couple hours before turning it on, but every time I turn it on it takes me straight to the bios screen or disk error read occurred screen
I’ve tried a lot of things on this screen to try and get my pc to start up windows

In the BIOS, choose "Optimized Defaults" F9. This will restore the BIOS settings back to default. Save and Exit. The PC should reboot.

The default boot order, typically puts the CD/DVD drive as the first boot device...ensure there is no disc in the drive.

I've tried that, there's is no cd/dvd tray, I took the laptop apart checked the connections. I did buy it used and saw that the hard drive wasn't the one that came with it and the guy who sold it to me told me he replaced it
Booting directly into the BIOS could be the BIOS battery or a hardware fault.

The "Disk Read Error" would likely be a hardware fault or the HDD is faulty/not connected properly.

Neither of those should have caused the initial problem, which could have been a simple software glitch or a sign of an underlying hardware fault.

What can I do? I've taken it apart disconnected the hardware and tried booting it up I've disconnected everything and reconnected it, thank you for helping so far I appreciate it
Replace the CMOS battery and see. That might solve the bios popping up problem.
