Hi everyone. My problem is I want to stop my kids blasting the music on the PC when I'm not home.
Is there an easy way I can disable the sound when I want to?

My operating system is Win98se.

Thanks,
Wayne

start > settings > control panel > sounds > check 'mute all'.

They will, of course, be able to reverse that. Are you looking for a more permanent solution? We can just disable your sound card. How old and how smart are your kids?

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
Yeah, I think I'll have to disable the soundcard, as the kids would know the "mute" option.
Could you run me through how to disable the sound card, please.

Thanks again.

Right click MY COMPUTER and click PROPERTIES, select DEVICE MANAGER TAB. Find your sound card in the list and double click on it. There should be a box you can check to DISABLE IN THIS HARDWARE PROFILE. Hope this helps!
