i did buy some ram from a local computer store here called MPC, and i was wondering if they possibly gave me the wrong RAM??

the RAM they gave me says.....
Apacer
512mb UNB PC3200 CL3

I have no clue if this is what i need...
The mother board i have is a K7 TRITON

anyone to the rescue???

lol... i wonder if building my own cmputer was such a good idea after all... i was told that it was fairly simple...LOL

What processor do you have? That ram is supported by the motherboard.

Make sure that you have the Mboard screwed to the backplane properly. Check the Mboard docs to see where they want to have screws as they may be pulling a system ground through one of them.

If everything is right you should have one beep in the beginning telling you that it passed the power on self test. are you sure your power supply is alright. Powerful enough. Did you put a new powersupply in or did you reuse one from a previous system. what model Gigabyte board did you buy?

Are you sure that dual channel ram is a must on a dual channel mobo? I though dual channel just meant the option of dual channel if you prefer...... and if you asked the guy at the computers store or wherever about the ram, he should've gave you the right stuff.

Ok, heres a few things I want you to try. First off, make sure that the ram is in order starting from the lowest numbered slot up. Try taking out all the drives. Just have ur mobo, processor, ram, fans, PSU, and video card installed. Power up the system like that (with a monitor hooked up to it), and tell me if you see start up messages.

If u dont want to do that, look at the processor itself and atleast make sure that's inserted properly, because it sounds like it could be the processor.

K7 Triton covers all socket A mobos made by Gigabyte recently. I am looking for the model number as in Ga-7vt600 (L) as in my case. Having this number will help to find troubleshooting information.

And ou would only need to install dual channel sticks if you are going to use dual channel mode. You can still run regular DDR ram on this board.
