Take three deep cleansing breaths and have a cup of chamomile tea. Then download and run Superantispyware. I know the name sounds pretentious but it is very effective. Set it up to do a complete scan and removal. Get it here:http://www.superantispyware.com/ I also suggest A-Squared free: http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/download/ Although it is not commonly found in many anti-spyware removal proceedure lists, it is one of the very best. I purchased the paid version. After doing those scans get HijackThis: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html Before doing so it is recommended that you create a folder in one of your directories(My Documents works fine) and both download(save) to that folder, and when asked by the program after installing, choose that folder to save all logs. Run HijackThis and then post to:http://forums.techguy.org/54-security/ afterreading and following all the advice in the "Sticky" topics. I am very sorry that you have had such an unpleasant early experience, but soon you will have a clean and well protected computer to work with. Just stay calm, take everything a step at a time, and you willget through this.
Good luck and post back with your progress. If I can offer any help along the way I will, but in the end you need to place yourself in the hands of Malware removal experts. This is not the place for HJT logs and analysis. That is done in "Security."

Welcome

first of all be patient. the relax because there are some very kind and capable security experts that can help you.

i would imagine they will want you to download a program called Hijack This, it is a simple and free program that will provide the info they will need to help you. this will be the extent i can help but if you follow the directions below and post a copy of the Hijack This log then that will be a start.

Click here to download HJTsetup.exe: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTSetup.exe
Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required

Did you notice the signature of "Cookiegal?" Microsoft MVP means that she has passed quite rigorous training and testing by Microsoft about the Windows system. The Alliance of Security Analysis Professionals is an organization of computer experts who specialize in Antivirus and Antispyware problems. If computers were people, they would be the AMA. You are in excellent hand now with your problem. Just follow the instructions of the gold shield advisors carefully. If you are not sure, just post back in the same thread with detailed questions. They will walk you through it step by step. Remember these folks are very busy, so it may not be "Cookiegal" all the time. Be assured that if you see the gold shield you can trust and follow the instructions without fear. Looking forward to a post from you that all is back to normal. I know it's just a matter of time.
