hi i think some error has messed up my desktop fonts, they appear to have black surrounding each letter. if i set the desktop to none it fixs itself but when i use a xp wallpaper the error comes back and i've made sure that drop shadows are selected. i've created a pic to show the problem.

none what??? None shadow behind the fonts? Or none fonts below the icon? Both are possible settings.

ok fixed it, in display properties the smooth edges of fonts option somehow got changed to cleartype instead of standard. hopefully this will help people in the future with this problem.
