I have a Samsung Android tablet, (not sure what model), that the battery is dead. It won't turn on. It has not been used in a couple years. Can the battery be replaced and if so how do I go about doing it?

Some tablets can be tricky to dismantle. You can try to separate the front from rear case. The battery is usually connected with a connector, rather than soldered in, but there is no guarantee. It is also often glued to either the case back or the board itself, or some other internal structure. You may be able to find a replacement, but they are not really generic, like a C cell, AAA battery or a CR2035 coin cell. Once you get it apart, try to find a number on the battery itself and search for that, or by make/model of the tablet.

If a device has a dead battery, sometimes it can be brought back to life by trickle charging it to a USB port on a powered on computer.

Plug the tablet's charging cable into a USB port on the computer. Let it alone for at least an hour.
Then you might be able to move it to a wall wart and it will start charging.

I'm currently charging a completely dead portable power pack by this method. No lights came on when attached to a wall wart so I moved it to a USB port on my desktop computer. The red light started blinking indicating it is now charging.
