My friend tried to startup his computer and it boots up and gets to the wins98 logo and that's as far as it will go. Has checked all the connections and they seem to be okay. He went to safe mode to start and when he clicked enter it went to the wins98 logo and stopped. He tried to use the startup disk they gave him with the computer and it won't proceed any farther either. Got any other suggestions? It's an NEC computer. It was working. A message came up after using the startup disk saying it couldn't continue to boot up. Said a possible reason was there might not be enough memory. He said he thinks there is plenty of space on the c drive. It was looking for some kind of command I guess and he doesn't know what to type in to get it to do anything. He'll try anything. Thanks, Ron51.

Most NEC's came with a Recovery Disk. If this is what your friend has and wants to use it, it needs to be placed into the CD drive, shut down (not reboot) and then boot the computer. Just follow the instructions from there
If this is not the case then you can make a startup disk from another 98 machine and that should work.
