I would like to create a form in Word 2003 and post it on our intranet for users to fill out and print. I do not want them to be able to save to the desktop. Any thoughts on how this can be done?

I don't know of any way to accomplish your goal with Word. You may want to consider a web-based form. They can be designed to email the results or store the results in a database. Or, they can be designed not to save the data at all. If you already have a Word form, however, a good web designer can emulate it using ASP, PHP, or even HTML. Do you have a website designer in-house?

A Word form opened by a PC will always have the File-Save as option...

Anything can be saved to the desktop if the user permissions allow it, no?????

If I'm not mistaken, aren't there some settings in the .pdf file itself that will not allow stored data? If you save to desktop, it's the blank form and that is all????

Lots of people want to let people use the form, but not keep a copy of the form itself. I think part of the reason is that they don't want the person to (figure out how to) change the form. There's virtually no way to do that with Word (or any of the Office programs for that matter). And, I'm not sure you can disallow saving any file that's been opened through a browser. That's why I suggested what I did. I would guess that, if Daisydee doesn't have the web developer capability in-house, we could find someone very inexpensive, or even free--depending on the purpose of the file.

Thanks Everyone! I was told it was possible to save a form in Word 2003 and there was an option to not save at desktop for end users, but no one seems to know how that works. I suspect I got misinformation.

Well, that can be true, but requires a lot. Check out (I think!) Tools-Protection. It also depends, Daisy...what is the purpose of the form? In house only?
