I just installed a new 80GB harddrive (HD), to replace an old HD I converted into a portable one w/ an enclosure case. I installed the new HD and and went to listen to music on a website and it didn't ply, I ripped a CD to the hard drive to check another angle and my program Jetaudio comes up with this:

Audio Info (** ERROR **):
Audio : MPEG1/2 L2, Stereo, 44.1KHz, 64 Kbps

My sound card is integrated so I don't know if I need to get a new card or get some codecs which I DL'd a pack, but I'm gonna try again, probably to no avail!

Please help!

Did you reinstall the sound drivers after reinstalling Windows?

We need to more more detailed specs on your computer, most importantly what motherboard you have.

I have a AMD Athlon 2000+ cpu and a MPU-401 hdmi device, or that's what the pc says I have when I check the control panels' sounds and audio. And nah, I didn't reinstall the sound card drivers! But I don't see anything to let me do so either?

Thats not the sound card. You need to install the drivers, they should be on a disc that come with the motherboard. They can also be downloaded from the manufacturer's website, but you need to know the manufacturer and the model number of the motherboard.

Thanks, while that sounds easier than it sounds I appreciate the help and sound advice, I've looked around and seen the same thing posted before only on other forums like this one! Unfortunately, my motherboard is not the original so I'll have to crack open the case and look, but that's just a hassle I'll have to get over! Thanks again!

Bah !
The guy's trying to help you Blackronin !

Obviously he'd reply to your question based on your experience and since it says you're an "advanced" user one would assume you know something bout installing drivers !!

Computer problems can be really daunting if you dont know what to do but if you're willing to ask for help and give out lots of information to those who're trying to help... the job is easier than anything else.
Good Luck... Id suggest you dont get frustrated and try to solve your problem.
