ok, problem seems to randomly come back...any ideas?

Crazy browser problems...
So, my internet was working fine. I could play games online, download torrents, email, etc.
What I couldn't do was access any website using firefox or IE. Everytime I tried, either it sat there doing nothing, pulled up an error page, or even more weird it would make every link in my favorites turn into google.
Here's some screenshots of what happened. A restart and Last Known...blahblahblah fixed it, but I'd like to know what caused it in the first place.
