Hi. Something seems really screwed up with my Sun Java installation. None of my installed browsers are detecting it, despite numerous un-installs and re-installs and I now suspect a screwed up registry entry.

I really don't know where to go from here.

System is XP SP3

Thanks Curly. I had been using Add/Remove Programs to remove Java.
I fear I have now made things worse. I tried Add/Remove Programs again and it appeared to remove Java but when I re-installed it, Java still wouldn't work. So I used the Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup Utility which appears to do nothing other than remove the entry from the Add/Remove list.

So, now I don't have Java in my Add/Remove list but when I try to re-install Java from the off-line installer it tells me "This software has already been installed on your computer. Would you like to reinstall it? <Yes> <No>" I click <Yes> and then get another alert that tells me "This action is only valid for products that already installed <OK>"

What a mess

Thanks, I had found that to.
None of the files to be removed via cmd prompt are present on my system.
The registry edits suggested have had no effect.
