Hi,
I have a Win XP PC with an HP Laserjet 4P (non Postscript) - the printer is no longer supported by HP. It's working (sort of, see later*).
My wife has a 10-year old Toshiba laptop (Win 98, first edition) with no modem and no CD that she uses at ice skating competitions for competition scoring (she's already had one laptop stolen so doesn't want to use a newer machine). She would like to take the Tosh and Laserjet to next week's competition but needs the printer driver. Can anyone tell me if, and how, it is possible to copy the driver from the XP machine to the laptop? Will it fit on a floppy, if copying is possible, or should I try DCC?

*I frequently get a few spurious characters printed, as though the buffer has not been cleared fully. Could this be driver corruption (it's a real pain trying to replace the driver of this non-supported printer) or might it be a printer hardware fault (memory failure)? Any ideas welcome. Thanks,

Thanks to you both. I have downloaded a driver that seems closest to the one required and will try it as soon as possible. Even zipped it is too big for a floppy (3.5MB) so I will have to get DCC working if I can (and can find the right cable).
Drivers I have tried before have required a postscript cartridge in the printer (which I don't have) although their descriptions don't make this clear. Without it the printer simply displays the error "INVALID PERS" so I hope this doesn't happen with this driver.
ANY THOUGHTS ON THE BUFFER/MEMORY PROBLEM?
